Delivering Computer Science Foundation Programs for Lancaster University

As Programme Lead (Technical Project Manager) at Lancaster University Leipzig from 2023 to 2024, I ran the Computer Science pre-bachelor and pre-master routes, standardised delivery across seven lecturers, and raised student satisfaction from 50% to 90%.
The Challenge
Course delivery was fragmented and inconsistent across modules. There was no shared planning or documentation, and lecturers were working in silos, which created gaps in handovers and assessment alignment.
My Role
As Programme Lead, I brought structure and consistency where delivery had been ad hoc: shared standards across the teaching team, clearer communication, and tighter delivery reviews.
I owned the Computer Science pre-bachelor and pre-master foundation routes with seven lecturers, keeping both aligned to UK academic standards and German regulatory requirements.
What I Did
- Set up structured planning, handover, and collaboration processes.
- Standardised assessments, grading criteria, and course documentation across modules.
- Built digital workflows for assignments, feedback, and lecturer coordination on Moodle and Microsoft 365.
- Closed handover gaps with shared module templates and clearer assignment workflows.
Results
- Student satisfaction rose from 50% to 90% within one academic cycle.
- Planning, documentation, and delivery reviews ran to a shared standard; handovers between lecturers improved.
What I Learned
Structured planning only helps when ownership is explicit. Weekly reviews and shared standards closed handover gaps and improved coordination across the team within one cycle.
